Four Pentads (English)

The updesa Panchakam contains forty instructions to the aspirant for freedom. The fifth verse though couched in the form of imperatives describes the attitude of the realised soul.

Unless one is a' Knower of Brahman' one constantly experiences a sense of duality- of pluralty and diversity which is maya. As the learned translator has aptly said Maya is neither logical nor illogical but it

is a ligical. The Subtle working of maya is the theme of the third pentad.

Blessed is the sage, who having renounced all and freed from the Influence of Maya.- revel in his own inherent bliss. The attitude of life of such a sage is portrayed in the fourth pentad,the Yati Panchakam.
