Jnaneshwar, also known as Jnanadeva, was a mystic poet and saint from Maharashtra, India, pivotal in the Bhakti movement focused on devotion to Krishna. His commentary, the "Jnaneshwari" or "Bhavartha Deepika," on the Bhagavad Gita was written in his teens and is the oldest surviving Marathi literary work, influencing other Bhakti movement poets. The "Dnyaneshwari" interprets the Bhagavad Gita in the Advaita Vedanta tradition of Hinduism.
