- Birth and Childhood: Sathya was born on November 23, 1926. His birth was accompanied by unusual events, suggesting his divine nature. He showed compassion, especially towards the poor, often sharing his own food.
- Talents: Sathya showed exceptional intelligence in school. He composed songs and plays at a young age. He had musical and dramatic talents.
- Spiritual Guidance: Sathya inspired his playmates to be socially and spiritually aware. He formed a devotional singing group. This group helped create a positive atmosphere that some believed protected the village from a cholera outbreak.
- Manifesting Powers: Sathya could create things from thin air, according to the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. He had a deep understanding of scriptures.
- The Revelation: In 1940, he was stung by a scorpion. This led to chanting Sanskrit verses and expounding philosophy. His father confronted him. Sathya then declared his true identity by arranging jasmine flowers to spell "Sai Baba" in Telugu. He then announced, "I am no longer your Sathya, I am Sai. I have My work. I cannot wait any longer," thereby revealing his divine mission.
- The Mission Begins: He left school and began gathering followers. He established Prasanthi Nilayam, the "Abode of Divine Peace", as the center for his mission. From then on, Sathya Sai Baba dedicated his life to demonstrating and teaching the principles of truth, righteous conduct, peace, love, and non-violence.
